1897, A Legendary Brand is Born in America

The first car bearing the Olds name, which changed to Oldsmobile in 1901, was manufactured in Lansing, MI by master machinist and engine builder Ransom E. Olds. Oldsmobile soon became a cornerstone brand for General Motors and remained so throughout most of the twentieth century.
