In the latter case, in order to get greatest power the high speed must be used, while with the gasoline machine the slow-speed gear must be used with increased speed on the motor. This pamphlet is a replica of the 1904 Olds Motor Works Curved Dash Owner’s Manual. It was reproduced and distributed by the Oldsmobile Division’s Public Relations Department. The manual consists of the following sections for the new Olds Motor Works car owner: :

A Study of the Oldsmobile: Illustrations and text about the deck and inside; including the motor, 4 gallon gasoline tank, water-cooling supply, muffler, steering lever, exhaust system, spark changing lever, battery sets, gasoline and controller levers, gears and throttle.

Preparing the Oldsmobile for Use: Discusses gasoline usage and oiling instructions.

Operating the Oldsmobile: Instructions on how to start, steer, slacken/increase the speed, turn, ascend/descend hills, and stop the automobile.

Adjusting the Motor: Directions and an illustration on how to adjust the motor, clutches, front steering spindle and pump connections.

Suggestions in Case of Difficulties: Troubleshooting instructions.

Note: The 1904 model Curved Dash was virtually identical to the 1901 original save for the increase in horsepower from 5 hp to 7 hp.
