1909, Adding Trucks to the GM Product Mix

With the U.S. auto industry still growing and its own product lineup still limited to cars, Durant’s GM acquired two truck manufacturers: Rapid Motor Vehicle Company, later re-named GMC Truck, and the lesser known Reliance Motor Truck Company. That same year, a Rapid truck was the first truck to climb Colorado’s famous Pike’s Peak.
