The renowned industrialist and sportsman Fritz von Opel, a grandson of Adam Opel, worked with Opel Corporation’s engineering and racing teams to develop the famous Opel RAK 2. The RAK rocket car program involved secret trials on Opel’s own Rüsselsheim test track before making its début in Berlin. The car, driven by Fritz in this photo, turned race fans’ heads with its futuristic styling, stabilization wings, power pack of 24 rockets, and speed record of 230 kilometers per hour.
