The 1936 model year Opel Olympia was Germany's first mass-produced car built with all-steel integrated body and frame construction, with the car’s body and frame built as a single unit rather than built and assembled separately. Offering the advantages of less weight, greater safety and more efficient performance, this technology, often called unitized or unibody assembly, was eventually adopted industry wide.
