In the 1950’s, as a kid, I cut out pictures of my favorite cars from old auto enthusiast magazines. One was the original white 6 cyl. Corvette. I never lost interest in that first body style (1953 – 1955) but grew up thinking that a Corvette should be red; should have a V-8 engine; and should be kept in factory original condition
In 1998, 40 years later, I was able to acquire an unaltered, first body style, 1955, red, V-8 Corvette. I’ve spent the last 10 years maintaining the roadster and bringing it closer to ‘as new’ condition. It will not ever reach ‘factory fresh’ condition because I enjoy driving it too much. I continue to create memories with my wife, children and grand children throughout the years!
GM’s Century Cruise pays tribute to GM’s past and the passion owners have for their vehicles. On Saturday, August 16, 2008 this vehicle and more than 100 other classic GM vehicles will cruise from the GM Global Headquarters at the Renaissance Center up Woodward Avenue to the heart of the Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak and the surrounding suburbs. One of these vehicles will be crowned “top cruiser” based on a text voting campaign.
