GM was the first automotive company to establish a Minority Dealer Program in 1972—it is the first and longest running program of its kind in the industry. GM’s Minority Dealer Development Program is a key component of GM’s diversity marketing strategy. There is a dedicated GM staff that works toward the goal of increasing the minority presence within the GM dealer body. In 2006, GM minority dealers achieved:

• 226,870 new vehicle sales • $12.6 billion in revenue • Employed 18,486 people
