I was there
I worked for Inland Manufacturing Division GMC for 37 years, until it became part of Delphi, and spent three years with Delphi. Inland was the chemical division of GM. In 1978, it was the most profitable division of GM.
Inland's General Manager, Tom Mathues was promoted to a GM group Vice President the next year. Then Inland began to change and was never the same again.
